Imported flowers can’t sit with us.
If you’re here, I guess you care about where your flowers come from. Well, so do we. Early on in my journey, I trained at a wholesaler and was disappointed in the quality of the flowers, which opened the door to learning other things about the number of synthetic chemicals and pesticides that the flowers are sprayed with and dunked in.
So, no product we offer includes imported flowers. I could source white roses and blue hydrangeas year-round, but choose not to. We love all the ways our friends choose to sling flowers. This is just what we do differently.
I don’t aim to report that the way we grow is perfect, but our compost, sourced by the truckload, is certified organic (Georgia Soil). Our granular fertilizer is certified organic (Harmony Ag). We spray a liquid fertilizer on the plants that is a mixture of fish emulsion and horticulture molasses. If we have a caterpillar problem, I’ll use BT - only applied twice this year. We also use diatomaceous earth. I even stopped using organic Sluggo, because it’s not safe for our ducks. In addition to the ducks, our integrated pest management includes applying beneficial nematodes, ladybugs, lacewing eggs, and minute pirate bugs.
I have a general philosophy that gardening with nature will result in better soil, plants, and flowers.
